MCE Card Specific Power Requirements

From MCEWiki

For general MCE power requirements, see MCE Power Requirements.

The power consumption during normal operation is listed here. The actual cosumption may vary depending on MCE firmware parameter settings, etc. The numbers below are calculated based on Vcore = 3V, Vlvd=4.5V, Va+=6.2V, Va− = −6.2V, Vah=10V.

Card Revision Power (W)
Clock Card B 8.73
Readout Card E 13.4
Readout Card7 B 25.5
Bias Card F1 2.1
Bias Card F0 4.8
Bias Card D 2.1
Address Card D 8.41

1: When using the MCE with mux11d squid chips, only 11 DACs of Address-Card are used. A small modification to the Address card will shut down the remaining 30 DACs and lower the the total consumption for Address card to 3W.

A simple form, based on the tables given below, to compute the power requirements of a subrack populated with user-selectable cards is available: http://e-mode.phas.ubc.ca/mce/cgi-bin/power.cgi

1 In Rev. F1, in order to save power, L12 and L13 (ECO-055) are removed to disable regulators U34 and U35 supplying +/-5V to the low noise bias channels. This results in total of ~2.7W power saving.
