View source for Quartus 8.0 .pof Generation Bug

Quartus II 8.0 and 8.0 + sp1 generate .pof files that seem to program the configuration device, but do not work after a power-cycle. When generating .pof files, do not use these versions of Quartus II. For more information, refer to th

In an email dated 16 July 2008, Altera Support said:

 Hi Mandana,
 It appears that the USB blaster driver in Quartus II 8.0 has problem. 
 It looks like a mistake in the 8.0 release. We should be able to fix the issue in the next release 8.1.
 I have attached the driver in Quartus II version 7.2. 
 We have tested the attached driver and it works well.

= Diffing .pof Files from Different Versions =
A diff between .pof files generated with Quartus II 8.0 sp1 and Quartus II 7.2 yields the following:

 Compare: (<)C:\Documents and Settings\PHYSICS\Desktop\rc_v0400000c_15aug2008_q72.pof (2097294 bytes)
    with: (>)C:\Documents and Settings\PHYSICS\Desktop\rc_v0400000c_15aug2008_q80.pof (2097309 bytes)
